Meet our Pediatricians, Specialists and Administrative Staff

Dr. Charmaine Van Schaik

Dr. van Schaik is the founder of PATH and is the former Chief of Pediatrics at Southlake Regional Health Centre, where she is responsible for the administration of the department as well as expanding the programs and services offered to the pediatric population. She is a general paediatrician having completed her pediatric training at McMaster University.  Her interests include injury prevention and head injury management, along with asthma and allergy.  She is a proud mother of 5 children and enjoys spending time with her family


Dr. Michael Hill

Dr. Hill is a general paediatrician providing consultative services at PATH and as a hospitalist at Southlake Regional Health Centre. He completed residency at the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children. He has an interest in asthma, care of the medically complex child and has recently become interested in AI in medicine! He loves music, space/physics and spending time with his wife and kids.

Dr. Fil Scerbo

Dr. Scerbo grew up in Toronto.  He completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Toronto, medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine, and pediatric residency at the University of Western Ontario.  He is a general pediatrician with interests in a wide range of medical, developmental and behavioural aspects of pediatric medicine.  He maintains hospital privileges at both Mackenzie Health (Richmond Hill, ON) and Southlake Regional Health Centre (Newmarket, ON).

Dr. Meijian Zhao

Dr. Zhao finished Medical school and Residency in Pediatrics in China before immigrating to Canada. She completed a 5-year fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at University of Toronto and another 4-year Residency in Pediatrics at McMaster University. Currently, she is a full-time Pediatrician and Neonatologist working at PATH and at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Her mission is to help children under her care to reach their best potential. She speaks English and Mandarin. Her clinical interests are neurodevelopment of newborns and infants, growth and nutrition, well-being of new immigrants and refugees, as well as mental health in teenage girls. Besides her clinical work, she volunteers at community centers and churches to popularize health information. Her favourite hobby is gardening.

Dr. Claudia Garcia Gelvez

Dr. Garcia Gelvez is a general pediatrician who also has expertise in Neonatology. In addition to her work at PATH Dr. Garcia also provides hospital-based care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric ward at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, cycling and reading


Dr. madeline DrakE

Dr. Drake is a general pediatrician who also has expertise in Neonatology. In addition to her work at PATH Dr. Drake also provides hospital-based care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric ward at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She enjoys the outdoors and traveling.

Dr. Anastasia patmanidis

Dr. Patmanidis is a general pediatrician providing consultative care at PATH as well as hospital-based care at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

Dr. RUTH McWHANNELl

Dr. McWhannell is a general pediatrician who provides consultant work at PATH as well as hospital-based care at both Southlake Regional Health Center and St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Dr. Stacy zahanova

Dr. Zahanova is a Pediatric Endocrinologist with expertise in managing pediatric thyroid disease, disorders of growth and puberty, diabetes, and pediatric overweight and obesity. She also provides general pediatric care at PATH and at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She loves ultimate frisbee and spending time with her husband and two kids.


Dr. Maryam fesharaki

Dr. Fesharaki is a Pediatric Neurologist. She is a member of PATH who provides expertise in management of issues including, but not limited to, epilepsy, migraine and neurodevelopment. Dr. Fesharaki provides consultative care and requires a referral from a health care practitioner before seeing patients.

AnnAMarie Hill

Annamarie is our Chief Medical Office Administrator. She has a wealth of experience having worked in our community for multiple physicians. She loves tea and is the heart and soul of PATH!


Tanya Henderson

Tanya joined our team at PATH in July 2019 as a Medical Office Administrator. She has worked in medical administration for many years. She loves hot chocolate, enjoys playing softball and is a passionate Toronto Blue Jays fan!
